Join us for our July Contemporary Fiction Book Club. We’ll be discussing The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett.
The Book Club will take place at 7pm on Thursday 31st July at Next Chapter Books.
The Vanishing Half centres on identical twin sisters, Stella and Desiree Vignes, who grow up in a small, predominantly light-skinned Black town in the South called Mallard. Stella chooses to "pass" as white, creating a new life and identity for herself, while Desiree eventually returns to Mallard with her daughter, Jude. The narrative follows the diverging paths of the twins and their families, delving into the complexities of their choices and the lasting impact of their past.
The tickets includes a free drink, sweet treats, a WhatsApp group of new book friends and inclusive and positive vibes during the club meeting, plus a copy of the book in paperback to be collected at Next Chapter Books when selected. The book club will take place at Next Chapter Books and run for approximately an hour and 15 minutes.
